Turmeric powder is derived from the root of an herbaceous perrenial plant from India Traditionally used as a staple condiment in Indian cooking, it is also highly prized in Ayurvedic medicine due to its nutritive content, and textile dye since ancient times until now. Due to its nutrition content, it serves as an anti-inflammatory and helps in a host of various ailments such as arthritis, menstrual cramping, urinary problems, hemorrhoids, toothache and even increases recovery time during injury and bruising. The rich orange color present in turmeric products is enough to permanently stain any clothing, but it is this incredible pigment that can soothe an inflammatory digestive system which will provide relief from many other seemingly unrelated symptoms.
Turmeric can be used in any manner of raw and cooked food preparation and we recommend 2-3 teaspoons per day as a general maintence dose. The active constituents in turmeric and made more easily absorbed by oils present in black pepper and many traditional remedies already mix the two together.
